EMDR for Sexual Trauma, Performance Anxiety, & Intimacy
Intimacy requires feeling safe and present in your body. But when sexual anxiety, performance pressure, or detachment happen in the bedroom, it is rarely just about the present moment. Often, these responses trace back to past relational hurts, shame, or early experiences that left your nervous system feeling unsafe or overwhelmed. When triggered, your body defaults to protection, leaving you stuck in your head, anxious, or emotionally shut down.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess stored memories and bodily reactions. By using bilateral stimulation (such as gentle side-to-side eye movements or taps), EMDR allows your nervous system to process the root causes of intimacy anxieties so they lose their physical and emotional charge.
In our sessions, we will:
-
Identify the root cause: Map the past experiences and messages driving present-day sexual anxiety.
-
Reprocess stuck responses: Soothe automatic physical reactions so your body learns it is safe today.
-
Reconnect to pleasure: Combine EMDR with mindfulness and and pleasure-focused practices so you can stay present and confident in intimate moments.
This work is collaborative, gentle, and results-oriented—helping you release old protective patterns so you can feel more grounded, intentional, and satisfied in your sex life.
